Wuhan's GDP grows 18.8 pct in first three quarters
Wuhan, capital city of central China's Hubei Province, registered a year-on-year growth of 18.8 percent in its gross domestic product (GDP) in the first three quarters of this year, local authorities said at a press briefing.
The GDP of Wuhan totaled 1,231.773 billion yuan in the first nine months. The figure rose by 6.4 percent over the same period in 2019, showing a good momentum related to economic recovery and development.
During the January-September period, the added value of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries increased by 13.2 percent, 17.5 percent and 19.7 percent to reach 32.624 billion yuan, 449.776 billion yuan and 749.373 billion yuan, respectively.
The added value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery in the city expanded to 55.899 billion yuan, up 18.2 percent year on year and 11.5 percent over the same period of 2019. The total output of vegetables and aquatic products was 6,234,600 tons and 324,800 tons, ascending by 8.3 percent and 14.0 percent year on year, respectively.
Industrial production in the city maintained sound growth momentum during the three quarters. The added value of the industries above designated size went up 17.9 percent year on year and 3.9 percent over the same period of 2019.
Wuhan’s fixed-asset investment soared by 31.3 percent year on year in the first nine months. Investment by the private sector accounted for a high proportion.
The city’s consumer market remained buoyant during the period. Its retail sales of consumer goods totaled 457.793 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.7 percent. In the first three quarters, Wuhan’s total imports and exports expanded 33.9 percent year on year to 240.45 billion yuan.
