Wuhan Port sees container throughput exceed 2 mln TEUs
The container throughput of Wuhan Port, a main inland river port in Hubei Province’s capital city, handled 2.06 million TEUs from January to October this year, data from the Wuhan New Port Management Committee showed on November 11.
The figure represented a year-on-year increase of 52.1 percent and surged by 51.58 percent over the same period of 2019, indicating a more dynamic economy in Wuhan.
The port is set to achieve container throughput of 2.4 million TEUs in 2021.
Wuhan Port is known as the largest port in the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River in terms of container throughput, which rivals container throughput of inland ports in Duisburg, Chicago, Moscow and Montreal.
