The container throughput of Wuhan Port reached over 2.4 million 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2021, a record high with year-on-year increase of 26.06 percent, management committee of Wuhan New Port reported on Jan. 4.

In 2021, Wuhan New Port launched five container ships for direct river-sea transprt, started the second phase project of water-rail transport of Yangluo port, opened direct shipping routes to South Korea, Zhoushan Port, Jining Port, Yingkou Port, etc., signed a cooperation agreement on combined transport between Hubei and Kansai of Japan.

In 2022, Wuhan New Port will be committed to achieving container throughput of 2.6 million TEUs, or even 2.8 million TEUs.
