Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, is striving to notch a year-on-year GDP growth of 7.5 percent in 2022, according to the work report of Wuhan Municipal Government delivered on January 11.  

The report said that, in 2022, Wuhan is expected to create 220,000 new jobs in urban areas, raise its consumer prices by around 3 percent, keep the growth rates of residents’ income and economic development in sync, continue to improve the quality of the ecological environment and achieve the set goals of energy consumption.

According to a preliminary estimate, Wuhan's GDP saw an increase of over 12 percent in 2021, ranking top 10 in the country.
