Background

China Post will issue a set of four commemorative stamps on July 10, 2019 for the 7th CISM Military World Games, with a total face value of 4 Yuan.

The 7th CISM Military World Games will be held from October 18 to 27, 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, lasting for ten days. There are altogether 27 sports, including Shooting, Swimming, Field & Track, Basketball, and five special CISM sports - Military Pentathlon, Naval Pentathlon, Aeronautical Pentathlon, Orienteering and Parachuting. Inaugurated by the International Military Sports Council in 1995, the CISM Military World Games is held every four years. It is a multi-sport event that features the highest level, and is of the largest scale for soldiers around the world, known as the military “Olympic Games”. The slogan of the 7th CISM Military World Games is “Military Glory, World Peace”, expressing the common wish of the military athletes from the host nation China, and various countries in the world, to share friendship and promote peace.

The first pattern is Field & Track - Javelin. It’s a traditional Field & Track sport and the backdrop is Wuhan Sports Center where the opening ceremony will be held. The second pattern is Obstacle Run of Military Pentathlon and the backdrop is Military Pentathlon venue. The third pattern is Seamanship Race of Naval Pentathlon and the backdrop is Naval Pentathlon venue. The fourth pattern is Four-people Formation Skydiving of Parachuting and the backdrop is the Wuhan Yangtze Bridge and the Yellow Crane Tower. All the stamps bear the emblem of the 7th CISM Military World Games - the tie of peace and friendship - on the upper right.

The stamps are designed with four typical frames of four sports. The style is of both conformity and diversity. They depict the moves of the athletes and the distinctness of the four sports. The stamps are printed with a special ink to create a camouflage effect to highlight the feature and rhythm of the military games.
